LETS TECSOL Junior Course

TECSOL is a course for learning how to teach English to children from age 2 to 12 whose native laungage is not English. There are many jobs available for TECSOL certificate holders. They include the following:

● At kindergartens or primary schools
● At private English language schools
● By franchising well-known private English schools
● By opening your own business
● By working as a casual teacher (or as a volunteer)

LETS has an excellent curriculum for this course based on teachers' own experiences as well as academic theory in areas such as teaching methodology and the communicative approach.

● MICRO TEACHING:
Students have to pass five micro teaching lessons to graduate. We record all micro teaching lessons on video tape and present them to the students so that they are able to see the strengths and weaknesses of their lessons.
● CHANTS:
This is a method of learning English words or phrases by saying them rhythmically. Teachers are able to make up original chants and use these in classroom situations.
● SONGS:
This is an important method for learning English pronunciation and rhythm.
Dancing or using gestures is also helpful in learning English.
● PICTURE BOOKS:
By using picture books, children are able to improve their English expression.
Students will learn how to select good picture books based on the children's English ability and familiarity with the language.
● IMMERSION:
This is an effective methodology which utilises children's intelligence. Students learn how to conduct lessons about other school subjects in English.
● PHONICS:
Students learn the sounds of the alphabet from a native English speaker, including how to pronounce each letter in the alphabet.

LETS arranges two weeks of practical experience at a kindergarten. This is not compulsory unless students want the J-shine course. In the first week, students assist teachers who are working in the kindergarten, and teach English to children in the second week. The children's mother tongue is not English so students are able to teach English in a practical way.

In the J-Shine course, it is compulsory to assist in ESL lessons at primary schools in Sydney. By doing this, students learn how ESL lessons are organised in Australia and how to manage classes.

We provide workshop information and information about employment opportunities regularly. We also give advice to students who would like to open their own school. There are some schools that employ graduates of LETS without examinations.

We have several teachers who have worked as TECSOL teachers in different institutions. Students are able to develop their ideas by learning from these teachers. All teachers have a "Bachelor Degree" and have a high level of English, close to that of a native English speaker. All teachers have a lot of experience and produce good quality lessons.
